The NVIDIA issues affects some of the model of these machines with the NVIDIA graphics chip set . (typical symptoms are distorted video, no video or only video on internal/external display (in some cases the computer doesn't seem to start, the only thing happening is the sleep-LED lighting up). It's a complicated issue and cannot be determined by just looking at the computer symptoms. .) The machines that may be affected program covers is as follows:
* MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008)
* MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2008)
* MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2GHz)
* MacBook Pro (17-inch 2.4GHz)
NOTE: If you are able to see an image on the display, though it's dark, it's most likely to be a backlighting issue and has nothing to do with the graphics chip-set.
These machine do need to be tested to see if they fails apple's NVIDA test which then issues' a unique code. If your machine is experiencing any of these issues please bring the machine for diagnosis.
